Working Out…. Again!

Well I’m starting working out again today. I’ve joined a contest at work. If I lose enough weight I’ll be entered in a drawing to win prizes that the company has put up. I have until March 31 to get to my weight. To qualify I need to lose 15% of my weigh-in weight. That was 237 pounds. Geez I’m fat!!! The number I need to lose is 35.5 pounds that puts me around 200, I haven’t been that light since I was around 25. I’ll be doing a combination of walking/running and weight training. On my diet I’ll just be watching portion size, amount of fat, and staying away from refined sugar. No fancy diet just common sense.

The prizes are just motivation for me to get off the couch and do something. I keep saying that I’m going to start but I hate to miss that rerun of Seinfeld I’ve seen about a hundred times. I need to do this I’m feeling slow, tired and old when I get home from work. I refuse to give up and get old. I want to be like Jack Lalaine. Still swimming when I’m 90. Of course I’ll have to learn how not to drown first.{ I’m not a great swimmer, I’m more of a sinker.} 

Well wish me luck. I’m  going to need it. I’ll be off to a fast start I figure I’ll lose about 5 pounds if I shave my back hair. Pearl wants to wax me. We’ll take video.

I lost another pound. I’m now 222. I pretty much took the week off. Still ate pretty well but no workouts. No reason why I just felt lazy. Once again there’s always next week.

Amazingly I lost 2lbs. I don’t know how. I ate awfully, and I didn’t get all my workouts in. But hey I’ll take the loss.By the way I’m 223 now.

Not much to report. I plateaued. I’m still 225. Kind of blew the diet at the end of the week. I’ll do better next week.

Thought this pretty much fits my work out routine. This weeks weigh in I’m 225, that was my goal for the week yea! Thats what I weighed when I got married going on 23 years ago. How many 45 year olds can say that? I worked out lightly on the treadmill, I should be able to work out a little more vigorously next week. Ten more pounds to go to reach my goal of 215. When I reach my goal I’ll reevaluate my goal to see if I want to go lighter.

Well working out was paused this week. I decided to let a few owees heal. Still weighed myself and I’m happy to report that I stayed the same( 228). I thought I would gain. I’m finding out that I’m not as young as I once was, it seems to take longer for me to recover from injuries than it used to. My leg is feeling better now, I may try to go for a gentle walk later, we’ll see.

I lost 2 pounds this week . I’m down to 228. I can still do better on my eating. I feel like I’m falling apart. My shoulder still gets sore and the other day I made my right hip hurt. And my bad knee ( left) was bothering me this week. But my right arm feels good. I think I need a Hoverround chair.

Working Out Update

Well, I weigh myself on saturday mornings. I didn’t do very well. I stayed the same. At least I didn’t gain. I’m not suprised though, I didn’t eat well and the shoulder injury took a little wind out of my sails. I’ll do better next week. By the way I started out at 239 I’m now at 230. 239 is the heaviest I’ve ever been. The lightest I’ve been since highschool was 205. That was about a year after Pearl and I got married. I’m shooting for around 215. I’m a thick necked german and most of the males in my family are easily 200+.  For a 45 year old in the Younger family 215 is a really good weight. Even Steven as thin as he is is already over 200. We’re just built that way. This is about accountability so I will keep you posted.

Working Out

Well I said that one of my resolutions was to lose weight so I’ve been working out. I’ve been using the Body For Life workout routine. Which consists of 3 days weight training and 3 days of cardio. Since I’ve strained a shoulder the weight training will have to wait. I’ll just do 6 days of cardio. That is unfamiliar territory I’ve always lifted to get in shape. So far I’ve lost 9 pounds in two weeks. I hope I can keep going.
